Pittsburgh-based Chinese education consulting and placement firm WholeRen Education (美国厚仁教育集团) has announced openings for bilingual GMAT/GRE tutors.
The academic support department of Wholeren Education is looking for talented, experienced tutors in GMAT/GRE for college level Chinese international students in the US. We help both struggling and gifted students reach their full potential by supplementing the instruction they receive in class and guiding them toward study practices and aides that can help them excel. Tutors work with individual students one-on-one, though we occasionally organize group activities for students who are studying the same material. Most of the time, we provide our students with online tutoring unless the tutor is located in the same area with the student. Our team offers compassionate, motivating assistance to students, and we expect our new hires to do the same. If you have experience tutoring students, please submit an application.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree required but master/PhD degree preferred
2. 1+ years’ experience teaching/tutoring preferred
3. Preferred experience in student support services
4. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
5. Able to use MS offices software
6. Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities:
1. Develop curriculum and teaching content specifically for departmental project or target students
2. Adjust course syllabus or teaching plan according to students’ level while tutoring
2. Meet students online through Zoom/Skype and go over their homework, assignments, and quiz/test prep materials in the applicable subject area
3. Ask students about specific topics or subject areas that are giving them trouble or that warrant further exploration
4. Review recent homework assignment and test scores, and work through problems or questions that the student did not answer correctly
5. Employ proven study aides to prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes
6. Take notes during tutoring sessions so you can follow up with the student later
7. Communicate with the supervisor about trouble areas or any other issue that requires attention
8. Write summary/report for each tutoring session that is given on the student profile system
9. Help promote programs or products through social media (Wechat mainly)
