The 2015 Jinju Namgang Lantern Festival (진주남강유등축제) finishes its 11-day run on October 11. The annual festival in Jinju, South Gyeongsang province, South Korea, draws over a million visitors each year to the Nam River with scores of colorful lanterns, food tents, and fireworks.

Pittsburgh doesn't quite make the most of its rivers as attractions. It has an annual Regatta, featuring watersports and riverside activities, and has recently experimented in floating art. In 2013 the Rubber Duck installation by Florentijn Hofman and Chang-jin Lee's "Floating Echo" Buddha statue both came to Pittsburgh; the former was a wildly popular destination during its stay, and the latter was stuck under a bridge in Point State Park.
