Pitt hiring Teaching Assistant Professor of Korean for a Fall 2026 start.


The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh is hiring a Teaching Assistant Professor of Korean for a Fall 2026 start.

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor position in Korean language and linguistics, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidate should possess primary disciplinary training in Korean linguistics, Korean as a Second Language, Language and Literacy, and/or a closely related discipline. A Ph.D. in Korean Studies or a related field is required by the time of appointment. 

The appointment starts on August 15, 2026. The teaching load is six courses per year. The appointee will teach current undergraduate courses in our Korean language program, develop new courses in the area of their specialization, help develop a new Korean major, and participate in the department’s interdisciplinary MA program. The successful candidate must demonstrate strengths as a teacher at all levels. The candidate must have a native or near-native user of Korean and English in all language skill areas. In addition, the new hire should be willing to take an active leadership role in the vigorous growth of the Korean program and collaborate closely with the established Korean language program.  

The intellectual environment at the University of Pittsburgh provides ample opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation, and the successful candidate is expected to interface with colleagues in the Department of Linguistics as well as language faculty in other departments.

University of Pittsburgh hiring part-time Chinese instructor.

The University of Pittsburgh's Department of East Asian Languages & Literatures is hiring a part-time Chinese instructor.

The Chinese Program of the Department of East Asian Languages & Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh, pending budgetary approval, seeks an instructor to teach several sections of 5-credit First-Year Chinese recitation classes in Fall 2026. The successful Candidate will need to have in hand, at the time of the hire, a MA in Chinese language pedagogy (or related field) and experience in teaching Chinese language courses at college level. 

 

The appointment is for the Fall semester of 2026. Reappointment in Spring 2027 may be possible, depending on student enrollment. These classes will be taught in person.

The successful Candidate will need to have in hand, at the time of the hire, a MA in Japanese pedagogy (or related field) and experience in teaching a Japanese language course at college level.

The appointment is for the Summer 4-Week 2 semester, June 15, 2026 – July 11, 2026. These classes will be taught in person.

We're looking for a Sushi Chef, to work in a team of two at the sushi bar, on preparing maki rolls, sashimi and sushi. It will involve multi-tasking of prepping and plating.

KIKU Japanese Restaurant reputation for artful plating and food quality, - fresh fish (never frozen) is flown in from Japan and New York every week, and we have a very strong customer following because of it.

Also, as many of our customers have a very experienced palate for sushi/sashimi, the Sushi Chef should have a basic working knowledge of various fishes, and Japanese ingredients used.

This position definitely requires one who can work efficiently under pressure, while also paying attention to the critical details, that the Japanese art of sushi is known for.

Sushi Chef schedule will be 20-30h/week to start

Serving everything homemade Authentic Japanese cuisine.
Must be willing to learn, listen and follow directions and have a passion for cooking.
Prep work involved. Training is usually couple month depends on experience. ex), you can filet a whole fish and able to cut fish same portion. or you can make a sushi roll only.

Must be reliable and neat.

Shady Side Academy's Senior School is hiring a Chinese teacher to cover an eight-week maternity leave.
Shady Side Academy’s Senior School World Languages Department is seeking a temporary maternity leave Chinese teacher for the 2025 academic year for 8 weeks beginning on August 14, 2025. Responsibilities include teaching four sections of Chinese, from introductory through advanced level courses in accordance with the Department’s needs. Qualifications

The Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh is a global hub for research and education on Asia, as well as a regional center fostering Asian connections.
