Ohio is doing Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month a little better than western Pennsylvania, with three large festivals that look worth weekend trips.
The Cleveland Asian Festival is scheduled from 11 am to 7 pm on May 18th and 19th, on Payne Ave. downtown (map). It's free, and the schedule includes scores of exhibitions, performances, and vendors. That same weekend, across the state, the annual Asian Food Fest will take place in Cincinnati. There are 14 vendors booked, and performances scheduled both afternoons. Finally, on Memorial Day weekend, the Columbus Asian Festival will be held in Franklin Park (map), with dragon boat races and exhibitions on Monday at Genoa Park (map)
For Pittsburgh's part, it has the annual Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival each May. This year's will have 31 full-length movies from the 10th through the 19th.
