Singer Jason Chen at Pitt, January 18.

The University of Pittsburgh's Chinese American Student Association and Vietnamese Student Association will host Taiwanese-American singer Jason Chen on January 18, part of the Pitt VSA x CASA Lunar New Year 2020 festivities.

Pitt VSA & Pitt CASA welcome you to our banquet in celebration of Lunar New Year (The Year of the Rat)! In this year, we hope it is filled with prosperity, good luck, and growth in one's life. Come out and eat dinner while watching amazing performances from VSA, CASA, Pitt Wushu, Pitt FRESA, and many more. Headlining the event will be Taiwanese-American singer JASON CHEN!

Jason Chen is a Taiwanese-American pop singer. He began as a singer performing covers on YouTube, where he gained a sizable following. He has also performed in various countries such as Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, as well as throughout the United States. After graduating from UCLA, he became an accountant for about a year, but later decided to mainly focus on producing music. His single, “Best Friend”, now has over 20 million views and his channel has almost 2 million subscribers. In his own albums, Jason not only writes catchy pop songs, but he also specializes in Chinese songs. This is a great way to expose the younger generation to different cultural influences. Jason Chen, among a few others, paved the way for Asian American musicians on Youtube.
The event runs from 6 to 9:00 pm in the William Pitt Union (map) Assembly Room and is free and open to the public.
