The Kelly Strayhorn Theater will host a Community Dinner with Maree ReMalia on Monday, October 5.
Join artist Maree ReMalia and Founder & Executive Director of Foster Love Project, Kelly Hughes, for a conversation about adoption, identity, belonging, and the creative process behind WITH OURSELVES, WITH EACH OTHER (WOWEO), a new performance that touches on these themes. Enjoy a free buffet-style dinner catered by Manduhandu in the KST Lounge, arranged with a cozy living-room-style setup. Share your experiences and questions as we get to know Maree and look ahead to the world premiere of her original performance, co-presented by KST and Hatch Arts Collective.

The Community Dinner is one of a collection of events featuring AAPI artists this fall, including three with Maree ReMalia:
Our upcoming season features a powerful lineup of AAPI artists. The season is led by WITH OURSELVES, WITH EACH OTHER by artist Maree ReMalia, a Korean adoptee and ballerina-turned-experimental dance-maker. The work explores her experience as she navigates the grief of losing a parent who raised her and the absence of a parent she never met. ReMalia's performance also comes with a movement workshop and a community dinner where people can dive deeper into the loaded topics of adoption, memory, loss, and joy.
Curated alongside is Remind Me, My Dream, a visual arts exhibition by JADED, Pittsburgh’s first AAPI artist collective celebrating AAPI art & culture in Pittsburgh.
In November, KST's Freshworks residency will showcase musician lys scott, a first-generation LGBTQIA+ Thai American artist, exploring the liberation of individuality, sexuality, and relationships with their immigrant family.
