The Row House Lawrenceville will show four films as part of its annual Studio Ghibli Week, running this year from November 7 through 13. Porco Rosso (紅の豚), Ponyo (崖の上のポニョ), Princess Mononoke (もののけ姫), and My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ) comprise this year's programming. A special sensory-friendly screening of My Neighbor Totoro will be held on November 8. Tickets and movie information is available online; please note, some screenings are in Japanese with English subtitles while some are dubbed in English. The single-screen theater is located at 4115 Butler St. (map).

The upcoming film Rental Family, starring Brendan Fraser and set in Tokyo, will play in the Pittsburgh area from November 20.

Set in modern-day Tokyo, RENTAL FAMILY follows an American actor (Brendan Fraser) who struggles to find purpose until he lands an unusual gig: working for a Japanese “rental family" agency, playing stand-in roles for strangers. As he immerses himself in his clients’ worlds, he begins to form genuine bonds that blur the lines between performance and reality. Confronting the moral complexities of his work, he rediscovers purpose, belonging, and the quiet beauty of human connection.

It is scheduled to play locally, so far, at the Cinemark theater in Robinson and the AMC Westmoreland in Greensburg, and tickets are available online.

1990 Zhang Yimou film Ju Dou (菊豆) in Pittsburgh, November 10 and 11.

The 1990 Zhang Yimou film Ju Dou (菊豆) will play in Pittsburgh on November 10 and 11, part of the Harris Theater's occasional International Art House Classics series.

The film that put director Zhang Yimou and star Gong Li on the international cinema map follows beautiful young Ju Dou as she is married off to an egregiously cruel, and also impotent, owner of a dye mill in the Chinese countryside in the early 20th century. When the boss’ nephew arrives on the scene they fall for each other with lustful abandon. Their impassioned affair soon leads to a son. After the clandestine couple convinces the despotic husband that he is the father, the boy is raised as his long-awaited heir. However the myriad complications of infidelity lead to a visceral and psychological melee between the lovers and their ruler with explosively dramatic turns. With its stunning mise en scène and sumptuous use of color, Ju Dou was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards® and has earned a reputation as one of the greatest Chinese films ever made.

CMU Center for New Work Development and Kelly Strayhorn Theater will present Maree ReMalia’s WITH OURSELVES, WITH EACH OTHER on November 13.

Kelly Strayhorn Theater and the Center for New Work Development at Carnegie Mellon University invite you to an intimate work-in-progress showing of Maree ReMalia’s forthcoming solo WITH OURSELVES, WITH EACH OTHER (WOWEO). Set in a karaoke-funeral-lounge, ReMalia welcomes audiences into an evening-length solo blending dance, text, and pop music as a way to grieve a parent who raised her and a parent she never met. Co-directed by Adil Mansoor, this performance explores how a solo body can become a meeting place for others and how a mic becomes a lifeline. Come experience the process of developing an original work right here in Pittsburgh!

WITH OURSELVES, WITH EACH OTHER is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation & Development Fund Project co-commissioned by Kelly Strayhorn Theater (KST), Bates Dance Festival (BDF), Hatch Arts Collective (Hatch), and NPN. The concert film MONSTA X : CONNECT X IN CINEMAS, with Korean pop group Monsta X, will play in Pittsburgh on December 3 and 7.

In July 2025, MONSTA X set the KSPO DOME ablaze over three unforgettable days with their show 2025 MONSTA X CONNECT X. From the powerful live band session and a setlist packed with spectacular performances, to never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage of the preparation process, and exclusive, heartfelt interviews where the members reflect on their intense 10-year journey — this film captures it all. Screening of 15-minute documentary We Were the Scenery and Cathy Linh Che talk, November 6 at Pitt.

The University of Pittsburgh's Department of English will host a screening of the documentary We Were the Secenery and a talk with writer/producer Cathy Linh Che on November 6. A synopsis, from the documentary's official site:

In 1975, Hoa Thi Lê and Hue Nguyen Che fled from Vietnam by boat and docked in the Philippines, where they were utilized as background extras during the filming of Apocalypse Now. This documentary short film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2025 and won the Short Film Jury Prize: Nonfiction, the Special Jury Prize for Short Documentary Film at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Best International Short Documentary Film at Galway Film Fleadh, Best International Short Dox at DokuFest, and the Excellence in Short Filmmaking Documentary and Audience Award at the Asian American International Film Festival.

The event runs from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in 501 Cathedral of Learning and is free and open to the public.

The feature-length film KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event will return to Pittsburgh from October 31, with many more theaters added to the original listings.

We're goin' up, up, up — and now it's YOUR moment! Back by popular demand on Halloween weekend, seal the Honmoon and sing your favorite "KPop Demon Hunters" songs with HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys in this full-length, sing-along version of the Netflix hit film.

It played here previously in August. It is scheduled to play locally at most local theaters, including the Manor Theater in Squirrel Hill, the AMC Loews Waterfront, AMC Classic Mt. Lebanon, AMC Classic South Hills, Waterworks Cinema, GQT Pittsburgh Mills, Chartiers Valley Luxury 14, and the Cinemark theaters in Monroeville and McCandless. Tickets are available online.

2025 movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle (劇場版「鬼滅の刃」無限城編) stays in Pittsburgh area through (at least) November 5.

The 2025 movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle (劇場版「鬼滅の刃」無限城編), which opened in Pittsburgh-area theaters on September 11, will stay here through (at least) November 5.

The Demon Slayer Corps plunge into Infinity Castle to defeat Muzan. However, the remaining Hashiras and the Demon Slayers who survived Tanjiro's Final Selection are pitted against the remaining members of the Twelve Kizuki first.

The 2025 Japanese animated movie Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc (劇場版 チェンソーマン レゼ篇) which opened in Pittsburgh on October 23, will remain here through (at least ) November 6.

For the first time, Chainsaw Man slashes his way onto the big screen in an epic, action-fueled adventure that continues the hugely popular anime series. Denji worked as a Devil Hunter for the yakuza, trying to pay off the debt he inherited from his parents, until the yakuza betrayed him and had him killed. As he was losing consciousness, Denji’s beloved chainsaw-powered devil-dog, Pochita, made a deal with Denji and saved his life. This fused the two together, creating the unstoppable Chainsaw Man. Now, in a brutal war between devils, hunters, and secret enemies, a mysterious girl named Reze has stepped into his world, and Denji faces his deadliest battle yet, fueled by love in a world where survival knows no rules.
